Hosting News – Cogent Deploys PoPs at Two of Proximity’s UK Data Centers

September 12, 2022

Cogent Communications, one of the world’s largest Internet Service Providers, has chosen the colocation facilities of Proximity Data Centres as a strategic Point of Presence (PoP). It allows Proximity’s Nottingham and Chester Gates edge data center sites to connect to Cogent’s high-capacity dark fiber network backbone.

“Cogent’s direct presence at Proximity’s edge colocation sites in the UK Midlands and North West helps ensure we can deliver low latency services to our customers in the region,” said Vincent Teissier, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Cogent Communications. “To clients including major streaming companies, service providers, and enterprise organizations.”

Cogent Expanding Regional UK Footprint

Proximity Data Centres now has carrier-neutral edge data centers available in Birmingham, Bridgend, Bristol, Swindon, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Rugby, Liverpool, Chester Gates, and Wakefield in its growing UK network of interconnected regional edge data centers. Within the next 12 to 18 months, the business anticipates having 20 properties available, all of which are near to significant conurbation zones.

“We are pleased to be helping Cogent increase their regional footprint in the UK,” said John Hall, Managing Director Colocation at Proximity Data Centres. “Their decision to choose Proximity Data Centres is a further example of how our edge sites are acting as strategic regional communications hubs for leading network and service providers.”
