European digital infrastructure platform nLighten, owned by I Squared Capital, has expanded into the UK with the acquisition of Proximity Data Centres, regional data centre operator.
Proximity Data Centres operates 10 carrier-neutral edge data centres across the UK. Locations include Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Chester, Bristol, Milton Keynes, Rugby, Swindon, Nottingham and Bridgend.
Through acquisitions and organic growth in 2023, nLighten has expanded into a pan-European edge data centre platform with 26 facilities, 53 MW of potential capacity and 130 workers. The UK is a mature market with large economic regions that will benefit from distributed data centres.
